Yule for Fuel

PITTSFIELD, MA — Given last week’s bone-chilling temperatures, the timing was right for “Yule for Fuel” on Sunday.
The 4th annual holiday carol sing-along at Zion Lutheran Church featuring the Berkshire Concert Choir benefited the Emergency Fuel Oil fund of the Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations. A free-will offering supported PACC donations, through the Pittsfield Salvation Army, that provides one-time grants of 100 gallons of heating oil to eligible families who have exhausted all other forms of fuel assistance during the heating season.
Under the direction of Paula Nuss, Berkshire Concert Choir performed seasonal favorites carols complete with beautiful piano accompaniment and majestic organ playing. Zion Lutheran pastor, Rev. Timothy Weisman and church music director Amy Renak led the 135 concert-goers in raising their voices to raise money to keep the heat on for the Berkshires neediest residents.
“The concert was excellent, lots of great [song] variety and a great crowd,” Weisman said.
