RHINEBECK, N.Y. >> Heating oil customers of Kingston Oil Supply Co. who have experienced delivery and service problems this winter can meet with company representatives to discuss their concerns, ask questions and find out why they were left without heat during one of the coldest periods in recent memory.
Kosco is holding informational sessions from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Saturday at the Beekman Arms Inn, 6387 Mill St. (Route 9), Rhinebeck.
“We have provided an opportunity for customers to come … and speak with us one on one and voice their concerns,” said Desirae Haluk, marketing director for Paraco Gas, which owns Kosco.
“It’s an opportunity for them to voice their concerns but also for us to inform them on our business as well as the industry,” Haluk said.
Kosco has come under fire from customers who say they run out of heating oil and are unable to get deliveries.
Haluk acknowledged the company’s recent delivery problems, which she said were the result of “historic cold” that resulted in customers using heating oil faster than the company could replenish it.
“The demand was historical,” she said.
Brutally cold temperatures gripped the region in late December and early January, with temperatures plummeting into the single digits on several occasions, and even below zero, resulting in a higher than anticipated demand for heating oil.
As heating oil companies across the region struggled to keep up with demand, the federal and state governments relaxed regulations to allow fuel truck drivers to work more hours.
