Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing, Las Vegas, has nearly met its goal to hire and certify 50 Veterans in 2020. The company most recently hired and facilitated free HVAC training to 12 of the 49 veterans it has hired since January 2020 in Las Vegas, Tucson, Phoenix, Corona (CA), Simi Valley (CA) and San Antonio.
Goettl’s “Veterans Hiring Initiative” hires veterans who have no prior HVAC experience, and an interest in pursuing an HVAC career. They are sent to Perfect Technician Academy in Weatherford, TX to receive HVAC certification after an accelerated six-week course. This is at no cost to each veteran.
Today’s HVAC industry is fighting a rising labor shortage of technicians. Goettl’s Veterans Hiring Initiative aims to change that shortfall while continuing its mission to support veterans. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the HVAC industry will grow 13% from 2018–2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. A career as an HVAC technician not only provides high pay for a trade profession, it is an essential service that is recession proof and always in demand.
