SLIFKA
The National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI) announced that Richard Slifka, longtime Chairman of the Board of Global Partners and former NEFI Director, passed away on May 25 at the age of 85.
Slifka was named a NEFI Legend, as was his brother, Alfred (Fred). Eric Slifka, Fred’s son and Richard’s nephew, will be honored as a Legend this summer at the HEAT Show, marking the rare occasion when three members of the same family have been so honored for their contributions to the industry.
In a message to the Global Partners community, Eric Slifka, President & CEO, said: “Richard was part of the Global story for more than sixty years. He played a central role in our foundation and helped shape the company we know today.
“Richie cared deeply about people and community, and he always kept the long-term good of the business in mind. Those of us who knew him well will remember his generosity, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor, which made him uniquely Richie. His steady presence will be deeply missed,” Eric continued.
Ed Noonan, Chairman of Noonan Energy, stated, “Rich was a consummate gentleman and a stalwart in our industry. Along with his late brother, Freddy, they built Global Partners into a premier oil and gas company.
“Richie and Global were always there to support our industry. My regards to the entire Slifka family. He will be missed,” Noonan concluded.
Slifka is survived by his wife Rosalyn; children Amy Cook and her husband Jamie, Karen Dattilo and her husband Jeffery, and Andrew Slifka and his wife Jodi; grandchildren Shayna, Daniel, Joseph, Michael, Julia and Jason, and many extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Temple Sinai, 25 Canton Street, Sharon, MA, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA. Family and friends are invited to join Slifka’s family at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 776 Boylston Street, on Sunday afternoon, from 2:30 to 7 p.m.
Memorial observance will continue on Tuesday, June 3, from 5 to 8 p.m, at Temple Beth David, 7 Clapboardtree Street, Westwood, MA.
